Bryce Canyon -- Mormon country

I read something about there being a few FLDS polygamous sects out here in southern Utah. Do not adjust your monitor-- Bryce Canyon really has blood red-orange rock outcroppings. It was stunning.

The Grand Canyon is CLOSED

I folloed the signs to the Grand Canyon. The road was blocked and there was a lady sitting in a car with an offical logo on the door.

"You must have taken a wrong turn," she said.

"Apparently I must have!"

"The Grand Canyon is closed for the season."

"Closed? Isn't it pretty big?"

"Well the North Rim is closed."

"Is there a SOUTH Rim?"

"Well I would go back to that gas station and get directions."

"Ok thanks."

Well fuck that. I drove through Glen Canyon which was plenty of geology for me. Looks close enough.

I slammed on my brakes when I saw this sign and pulled over to the shoulder. Got out of the car, dove into the trunk and got my camera. All the while I was getting honks, but I had to get this shot!

Redneck Cafe & a classy car

From Benz convertible to Benz convertible, this dude got a thumbs up. This is what my car looked like 66 years ago!

Quivering with fear when I pulled over to get gas next to this cafe. The gas station looked like it was out of the deep south and even though i was running on fumes, I chanced it another 20 miles to the next "town", which was a Texaco and an Arby's.

Eastern WA= OR, ID, UT

In Oregon the speed limit is 65 (as seen on the roads below). 65? In addition to making you crawl across the vast expanses the eastern part of the state like molasses on a cold day at the North Pole, they have lots of cops planting their fat asses in the medians.
