Eastern Washington extends across America

I always thought that Eastern Washington was "the country". How nice to see wide open spaces, right? I assumed that after I crossed the Washington border into another state the scenery would change. WRAONG! Eastern Washington extends through Oregon, continues through Idaho, and doesn't even change through Utah. When you get 100 miles outside of Salt Lake City you start to see some desert-like shrubs and different scenery. It's still boring there too.
